Easter and all

Chicken chipotle…pretty much fried chicken breast with a nice buttery pan sauce. I like making pan sauce and all kinds of sauces lately. Specially with some wine or liquer in it. Yesterday night I made caramel whisky muffins and coffee whisky panna cotta, like the little burning flavour in your throat.image

Nice oatmeal crisps. Yes I think they are too crispy to be called cookies.image

This is the caramel whisky muffin I mentioned. The texture is really really funnny, it’s really crispy on the top and kinda chewy on the bottom. Anyways I liked it, and it tastes a bit like fortune cookies.image

The following are pictures I took during Easter brunch with the in law’s. It’s the easter brunch from American Hotel Amsterdam, jazz hall seafood buffet. Ingredients are fresh and delicate, I really enjoyed it. Had some quality time with the in law’s,haha me like. image

When I was taking these pictures my favorite dessert of the day hasn’t come up yet, its a really refreshing passion fruit sorbet cake. oh btw LOVE the chocolate fondue!!!!!!Specially the white one, yea I like my white choco alryt. 😛

Clean up my phone

We\ve been taking a lot of photos of food we made since we started living on our own together. It’s a lot of experimenting and fun. Of course and a lot of calories. But it’s worth it, combined with some exercise.

My phone is stuffed with foodies pictures now it starts to annoy me whenever I’m trying to look for something. So i decided to put all of them on my computer and blog to make sure I can see them everywhere to remind me of the good time we had.

Should we eat less???

Super long post after two suffocating weeks

Haven’t uploaded for ages. Not that nothing ever happend, just my exams are killing me, not my appetite though.
I still have the last exam tomorrow, so I still don’t have that much energy yet to seperate all these, so here comes the ultra long food parade.

We found a sour dough starter in the nature store, german stuff.. didn’t work the way we expected, the bread was firm which i like, but too crumbly.

Was still good homemade bread though, nothing beats homemade. We had a great brunch the next morning (lunch time). Bread with peanut butter and jam, kwark with fruit, sausage with scrambled eggs and tea coffee of course. Yea we eat a lot, everyday.

And the next morning after that we had omelette and kwark, I love my kwark.

And dinner, very funny combo..spicy egg plant + drum roll………shepherd’s pie! HUH? Yep.

Did you know if you put your frozen fruit in your kwark or yoghurt, then put it in the fridge for a short while you get super creamy icecream??? Now you know it, trust me it’s GOLDEN!

And of course muffins, these are made with applesauce, turned out great. Good texture good taste, good butter substitute.

Kwark tiramisu. Kwark is really versatile, isn’t it?! I can cook three meals a day with this stuff, lately I’ve been consuming this stuff madly, about 500ml a day. It’s just that good, I can’t help it.

All made from scratch. I felt so chinese. That night I also watched some documentary about Qingdao and chinese College Entrance Exam. Good times, not with the study part, with our youth.

Dun feel like going anywhere …

Got up late today again…so cold and windy outside, and I’m suffering from my monthly friend too. But I have to go to dutch lesson, hairdresser and an interview …
Yesterday I officially started sending CVs for an internship. Life is hard huh?haha

Anyhow, I can always go for a good bite. Yesterday night we made quiche 😉

One side for me with more veggie, one side for Royroy with more cheese. Blue cheese is a very potent surprise in ur mouth.

Cheesecake throughout the day

So we decided to make a light cheesecake with kwark, and it was simply amazing.
We used 500g of skimmed kwark, klopklop (or whipping cream), egg white and tropical fruit for the filling, lady fingers soaked in pina colada as body. Very tropical huh? We didn’t even notice.

And thats our breakfast portion…it’s light fluffy creamy sweet and refreshing, because of the mild tangy flavor from the kwark

And for dinner I had some stir-fried butternut squash+ spinach, and shared some simple salsa salad with my hunny, whom was enchanted by his frikandel + dikke frites. Unfortunately, those weren’t exactly the photogenic type, besides they were gone in een ogenblikje, so..next time

We are going to make quiche again!

Hotpot night!

Hotpot is super popular in China, and wherever you can see Chinese. So a lot of places… It’s tasty, goes with loads of variations, and super easy to put together. It contains no more than an awesome bullion and whatever goodies you can possibly throw in there.

Tonight I used chicken stock plus two types of Korean paste to make my bullion, not as good as the real thing, but not as greasy either. The nice thing about eating hotpot is you get strangely happy, hot and eat a lot. Since its homemade I highly doubt its because of some funny substances working, guess its just the spirit!LOL

Had cookies n yogurt as desert, after training we are going to make ‘kwark taart’, sorta German cheesecake, but a light version. Hope it will turn out well.

And the first time I got packaged sandwiches in school. Doesn’t worth the price.

red wine beef stew + mushroom risotto with blue cheese
I forgot to take pictures of mine, but it was butternut squash with mushroom chowder sorta thing, tastes really good, nice n simple.

then i made breakfast: rye flour+milk+egg white+salt+cinnamon+sweetener, tastes comforting 🙂

2moz’s MA class is cancelled so perhaps a nice lazy morning
